Casa Pasta – The Best Italian Restaurant in Bangkok?
Now before we get started with this post I want to tell you one thing: I’m no expert when it comes to Italian food.
After all, I eat 99.5% Asian food (I’ll include Indian in that percentage), with the other 1% going towards things like Lebanese food or Italian food. Since I rarely eat Italian food, especially in Bangkok, I honestly don’t know that much about it.
However, I have a good friend here in Bangkok, Ben Viapiana who happens to make awesome custom jeans, and who has Italian roots. When he mentioned this Italian restaurant serves some of the best Italian food he’s ever had in Bangkok, you better believe him.
The newly opened Casa Pasta is a small little restaurant about a kilometer down Sukhumvit Soi 101/1, and if you love Italian food, you should come running.
Casa Pasta is a cozy restaurant owned and operated by 3 Thai chefs that formerly worked at hotels and perfected their skills with Italian cuisine.
The menu includes a few different appetizers, a selection of tasty sounding pastas (which all include hand-made noodles), a section of pizzas, just a few main dishes (like lamb chops and steaks), and a couple of classic Italian desserts.
For an Italian restaurant in Bangkok, the prices are really quite reasonable.
After placing your order, you’ll be given a nice little basket of excellent homemade bread.
I had never heard of the dish before, but the description of the pasta with amatriciana sauce sounded superb, so that’s what I ordered.
A combination of tomato sauce, bacon, onions, garlic, cherry tomatoes, chili, and a bit of cheese too, were the main ingredients. Placed over a bed of fresh linguini pasta, it was fantastic.
The flavor bursted with tomatoey goodness.
Price – 159 THB
I know, a Hawaiian pizza is not the most authentic Italian recipe, but it was still pretty good. The menu also included lots of other pizza variations.
Price – 189 THB
For dessert, how could we skip a portion of tiramisu?
We didn’t.
It was richly creamy, with a noticeable hint of coffee and chocolate. Though the portion was a little small for 139 THB, I loved it.
The Bottom Line
It could be the best Italian restaurant in Bangkok, that’s up for you to decide. I thought it was pretty amazing as does Ben and Dwight.
The restaurant is friendly and relaxing, prices are very reasonable, and the food is wonderful.
