Weird Egg Yolk Fruit

The fruit lady over at the best fruit shake in Bangkok handed me its bright yellow flesh. I immediately tasted an egg yolk, both in texture and flavor.

It was a bizarre sensation to say the least.

In Thai, the Egg Yolk Fruit is known as Lamut Khamen or Luk Taw (scientific name: Pouteria campechiana). After doing a little research, I found that it’s available in the Philippines where some enjoy it and others consider it to be like eating baby poop.

Whatever the scenario, it was weird, but apparently it’s good for the eyes!
